EUDR: from December 30, coffee sold into the EU must prove it is deforestation-free
· 1 min read
The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) applies from December 30, 2026 for medium and large companies and from June 30, 2027 for micro and small ones. It covers seven commodities: coffee, cocoa, soy, cattle, palm oil, rubber and wood.
Operators placing these goods on the EU market must show that they:
- Do not come from land deforested or degraded after December 31, 2020;
- Were produced in line with the laws of the country of origin;
- Are traceable to the farm, with geolocation of the production plots.
For Minas Gerais this is key: according to the report, coffee accounts for more than 85% of the state's shipments to the EU. The state's compliance platform (Selo Verde) indicates that 99.6% of producers already meet the requirements; the challenge now is to organize and prove the data.
Why it matters
European buyers will ask for origin data together with the shipping documents. WW Trading helps gather producer and lot information so the coffee reaches Europe without delays.
