How to ship coffee samples abroad without getting stuck in customs
· 1 min read
A sample held in customs can cost you the deal. In most cases the problem is the paperwork, not the coffee.
1. AWB and proforma invoice
The air waybill (AWB) and the proforma invoice must describe the sample clearly: product, weight, quantity and that it is a sample of no commercial value.
2. Destination requirements
Each country has its own rules for plant products. Checking them before shipping avoids holds and returns.
3. Door pick-up and tracking
With FedEx and DHL, WW Trading issues the AWB and handles the customs paperwork, and the carrier picks up the sample at the farm, cooperative or warehouse, with broad coverage across Minas Gerais and São Paulo.
